Contract Manned Security will be under the spotlight in 2012 like never before as The Olympic Show comes to town. The fact that more than 13,000 members of the Armed Forces will be deployed to boost security, in addition to those being produced under the banner of G4S, and that H.M.S. Ocean, the Royal Navy’s largest warship will be stationed in the Thames to help protect London during The Games really says it all. The threat is real and we need to confront it.
Most of us would agree that it is not really enough at such a time to deploy Contract Manned Security and just hope that it all works out. Of course it may do and there is no problem; conversely it might not and the management involved will need to give some answers to some very searching questions. We would like to recommend therefore that you take up The 2012 Silver Fox Challenge – On-Site Security Audit to show the commercial world that you are doing everything possible to ensure that your organisation at least is ready and alert to meet the challenge.
The terms of the Challenge are as follows:
1. The requirement is for a total of 12 Silver Fox Audits on one specific site during 2012. The results are important but do not affect the Challenge. The cost of each Audit is £175 + VAT.
2. Participants who sign up to the Challenge are immediately awarded The Mounted Fox, suitably inscribed in their own name, to publicly show that they have taken up the Challenge. The value of The Mounted Fox is c£100 and is absorbed within the price of the 12 Audits.
3. Individual Prizes to the value of £100 are provided by The Silver Fox, but are presented by the Client to those considered the most deserving officers during the programme of the 12 Audits. These may be miniature inscribed mounted Silver Foxes or Gold or Silver Tie-Pins bearing the Silver Fox crest.
4. A contribution of £100 is made by the Silver Fox on your behalf to one of 4 possible Charities and on which you decide. The four charities selected are:
a. Paralympics GB. www.paralympics.org.uk
b. Help For Heroes. www.helpforheroes.co.uk
c. Hounds for Heroes. www.houndsforheroes.co.uk
d. Macmillan Nurses. www.macmillan.org.uk
5. Each month we publish the charity you have selected and the contribution that we have made on your behalf.
At the conclusion of the 2012 we will add a total of £1000 spread evenly between the four charities.
A number of both clients and contractors have expressed real interest in getting involved immediately so the Challenge will be launched in January and we will be reporting on those participating from February 2012 onwards.
